🔵 Q: What is ATMOS-X?
🟢 A: ATMOS-X is an advanced weather enhancement package and planning tool for DCS World.

🔵 Q: What do I need to do before installing ATMOS-X?
🟢 A: Make sure to remove any mods installed in your main DCS install path that may conflict with ATMOS-X. This includes previous versions of the Weather Mod or any modified environment shaders. Aircraft mods or any mods installed in the Saved Games folder do not need to be removed. This allows you to create a clean backup of the files ATMOS-X modifies so you can quickly activate or deactivate it when needed. 

🔵 Q: What features does it add?
🟢 A: ATMOS-X adds 44 different user-selectable photo-realistic cirrus clouds, 46 new cloud presets in the mission editor, an aurora borealis effect, shooting stars, improved atmospheric effects, enhanced lightning and thunderstorms, and improved star/moonlight lighting.

🔵 Q: What else can I use it for?
🟢 A: You can use ATMOS-X to plan and create realistic weather scenarios using current METAR data in Preset Builder, and even create your own cloud layers in Cloud Builder.

🔵 Q: What does Preset Builder do?
🟢 A: Preset Builder allows you to fetch the current METAR from any valid ICAO and build a weather preset based on that data. It configures date/time, visibility, wind, and cloud layers to closely match the METAR. You can then save the preset or inject it directly into your DCS mission file.

🔵 Q: What does Cloud Builder do?
🟢 A: Cloud Builder lets you create and modify cloud presets in DCS World. You can import cloud layers from a METAR and build a custom preset that closely matches the report.

🔵 Q: What is the performance hit?
🟢 A: Generally there is no performance impact, except when the aurora effect is enabled. With aurora is active, you may see a performance loss of about 5–10 FPS.

🔵 Q: Does it work in Multiplayer?
🟢 A: Yes, but it will break multiplayer integrity check so the server will have to allow mods and each player will need to have ATMOS-X installed

🔵 Q:  What should I do if there is a DCS update and I have ATMOS-X installed?
🟢 A:  Open ATMOS-X, and click the Deactivate button. Install the DCS Update. After the DCS Update is complete, open ATMOS-X and create a new backup before activating again. Check for ATMOS-X updates on atx4dcs.com

🔵 Q: Does ATMOS-X  introduce dynamic weather?
🟢 A: No, unfortunately dynamic weather is not possible at this time in DCS World. However,  ATMOS-X does provide the ability to create very realistic live real-world conditions within the limitations of the current DCS World weather engine.
